questionnaire:
1. a) If funds were available, what
youth activities related to a CoP would you like to do as an
individual?
Alternatives to self-destructive behaviours,
promote volunteerism, cultural exchanges, internship, behaviour
change programmes, community network systems
b) What
non-financial support do you need to do these
activities?
Training opportunities to further enhance skills
in mobilizing and securing the ongoing development of our youth.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to
a CoP would your organization like to do?
Youth leadership
training, community youth outreach activities (peer counseling,
youth to youth outreach), youth resource/development centre for
at-risk youth,
d) What non-financial support does your
organization need for CoP activities?
technical support such
as project development from research to implementation inclusive of
monitoring and evaluation and follow up
2. a) What changes in
youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your
country should make to promote a CoP?
Allow youth to conduct
promotional activities with little or no supervision/interference
from adults. Government should create avenues and provide the
technical/financial resources for youth to spearhead and manage more
freely those issues and activities that directly affect youth.
Budgetary allocation for youth development must be critically
reviewed and increases made to match the growing needs and concerns
among youth.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you
think the UN should do?
This is determined by results of
needs assessments/surveys that are key to the development of
strategies, policies and other activities/initiatives.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS
3. Do you have any suggestions or
recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities
on any levels (UN, government, civil society)?
Youth must be
involved in policy development from the onset and not after it has
been put together or for enforcement, provide timely and equal
opportunities for development /training
4. What could be
done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in
promoting the CoP?
Be timely, consistent and unbiased in the
dissemination of information and involvement of all stakeholders.
5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary
Fund for youth and CoP, how should it be
managed/administered?
Make it available to all youth and
youth oriented bodies, especially of a non-government, non-partisan
national structure. Provide training or utilize trained personnel
(youth preferably) to assist in the management and monitoring of
groups to which funds are disbursed.
6. How can youth not
yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
By
embracing and involving them in activities geared towards their own
development, by meeting them at their level (where they hang out,
also by understanding, appreciating and their individual and
collective social, physical and emotional needs).
