Questionnaire
If funds were available, what youth activities related to a Culture of Peace (CoP) would you to do as an individual?
Work
with junior youth to make them more aware of how much potential they
have maturing into youth. A big part of this is balancing their
material education with moral education & orienting their actions
towards the service of mankind.
What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
Initial
training & development of material for such a programme -
strategies to implement and maintain such a process... Pardon my urge
to elaborate; the surest way to create a 'CoP' is to raise a generation
and successive generations - liken to wave after wave - to not only
believe but understand their role in inheriting not just a peaceful
culture but a peaceful world.
If funds were available, what
youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
(If you answer this question, please name your organization)
Not
sure I can answer this since I'm not aware if youth/junior youth
development^^ as described^^ is part of the mandate of the organisation
I currently work in (UNDP).
What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities?
What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
They
should put into their manifestoes and budgets^^ for the development of
their countries^^ regions and communities and in direct consultation
with young people^^ plans and strategies to empower youth in realising
their dynamic potential and responsibilities in shaping the future of
the world's countries. This ain't no easy task but it close to the
surest way as I am able to see.
What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
Ok.
Well if UN is indeed concerned about the development of countries^^
lobby for a pilot of such a programme. Try it out somewhere and see how
it works^^ tweak it^^ reflect on the process each time trying to refine
the programme as much as possible. Bein
Do you have any
suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP
activities on any levels (UN, government, civil society)?
To me
once the potential of such a programme is understood and the awareness
raised^^ a few heads will turn. Designate the upcoming year 'year of
education youth and junior youth'. Target onranisations that already
work with young people^^ have all the NGOs sign on to contribute in
some way. School teachers can even be used (those who can get away from
the old way of doing things^^ who can be creative and open)
What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
Involve
everyone who is interested in education and the eventual development of
their country/ world^^ include all NGOs^^ get government to sigh some
agreement and get them to help in some of the planning. Let this
project be know to all^^ the eventual aim to improve the caliber of
youth and future leaders.
To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
Well
if funding agencies concerned with lasting development^^ are convinced
that this kind of project may just work (pilot the idea first just to
see)^^ then shouldn't have a problem with funding. As to how managed^^
some group of concerned and experienced human beings with a passion for
youth development should be soth after.
How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
Just
talk to a few persons who had to gather together a number of level
headed youth and can get some ideas. Or just tap into the network
created by a few organisations working with youth and should be able to
get some contacts.
