1.a)
If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP
would you like to do as an individual? Uniting every high
school in the US in projects to build a united culture of youth for
a new future that supports the world wide call for a culture of
peace.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these
activities? A grant that can pay for funding coordinators at
every high school in the US paid by major oil, or pharmaceutical
corporations.
c) If funds were available, what youth
activities related to a CoP would your organization like
to do? Raising awareness that one: violence is not innate, and
not inevitable, that if there is any hope for a different course
than what (our governments) are currently taking, we must make youth
cooperation and collaboration a priority now!!!!!
d) What
non-financial support does your organization need for CoP
activities? Just solidarity through correspondence.
2.a) What
changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in
your country should make to promote a CoP? Youth should be
taught their rights, international law, and human rights should be
part of every curriculum in every high school in the US. There
should be a permanent ban on military recruiting in schools and on
the draft. The US should ratify the Convention on the Rights of the
Child as well as the Educational, Social, and Cultural
Rights.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think
the UN should do? The UN should provide a regular space for youth
to participate in the decisions being made at the UN level. These
youth should represent every ethnic, race, religion, region in the
world. The UN should be actively requesting opinions from youth and
informing their policies in their respective countries.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS
3.Do you have any suggestions
or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP
activities on any levels (UN, government, civil society)? The UN
educational projects should connect to youth through music and pop
culture through media outreach.
4. What could be
done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in
promoting the CoP?
5. To ensure the best possible benefit
of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/
administered? Funds should mainly go to fund outreach projects such
as contacting willing famous music and film stars to advertise, and
providing money for potential members of COP youth to attend
fundraising and grant writing workshops in order to pursue both
public and private funds to build and sustain this initiative.
6.How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be
reached and motivated? Promoting the COP. activities on college
campuses in the US, high schools and music festivals, other venues
where youth hang out 7. a) Which other organizations
do you know of, that work for a CoP? 1. The world wide Waldorf
Education movement, 2.Association of Experiential Education, and
3.Potters for Peace, based in Nicaragua.
b) Would you be
willing to contact them or may we contact them with the
questionnaire? Please specify. Yes, I would be more than happy to
send out a letter to these organizations regarding the culture of
peace and how they can get connected to the UN youth
project.
