A) If
funds were available what youth activities related to a CoP would
your organization like to do.
The WSCF has 105 organizations
at the national level that are all engaged in one or more of the
program areas of a culture of peace. If UN funding were
available we would notify all of them and urge them to apply for
support. Here are some examples of their projects: *
re-integration of ex-combatants * popular education in rural
areas about the political process and the Constitution * women's
empowerment projects * teaching people how to use the
internet * human rights and solidarity projects * civil
society development (although we are not development agencies as
such)
B) What culture of peace activities and initiatives
should the UN do?
There should be a fund to support
youth-initiated and youth-oriented activities at the grass roots
level - not "top-down"
Youth should be given a chance to
participate in decision-making at all levels
C) To ensure the
best possible return of a voluntery fund for youthe and culture of
peace, how should it be managed/administered?
It should be
administered by those with the relevant skills, but there should
always be youth input in the decision-making
D) Which other
organizations do you know of that can be contacted?
Contact
the six regional secretaries of the WSCF
E) This response is
my personal opinion and not an official opinion of the
organization
