questionnaire:
1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you like to do as an individual?
To
understand what CoP really means, it is important, in my opinion, to
appreciate to know and to promote different cultures by attending
seminars, meeting people from all over the word that may have different
points of view, and in general to experience what we mean when we talk
about Peace.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
Training by doing different activities such as workshops, seminars and meetings.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
Our
past experiences are strongly linked with research works and often our
activities have been connected to the academic environment. Most of the
members of the association work on development issues, even on field
(we visited in 2002 a number of projects in Mozambique and some of our
members have been working in Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe, Argentina,
Burkina Faso, Uganda, Lesotho). Development education being the focus
of our activity, we organized two editions of sensitization programs at
least in three different schools. To exploit the background of the
association, we would use the funding to implement the following
activities: - Publication of the guidelines of "Educreazione", our
project for development education ended during the last year (2nd
edition). The aim is twofold: sharing knowledge on methodologies and
techniques with other associations and replicating the activities in
the future. - Support to the external communications and improvement of the existing web site, to create a multilingual forum. - Financial support to the organization of events, conferences or meetings. -
Support to researches (even on field) and to print panels for thematic
events and exhibitions. The aim is to involve a broad audience even in
public sites and to sensitize them with images support. We already
organized similar events.
d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities?
In
order for the association to be to improve the effectiveness of
activities such as sensitization events, exhibitions, galleries,
education for development campaigns, etc.: - on one hand the
organisation should increase its management and organisational
capacities. Meetings with other organisations, to share the best
practices on knowledge management (methodologies, past experiences,
etc.) would be a useful support, which could be organised by the UN
Youth Fund for a culture of peace. - on the other hand, our
members would surely benefit from training courses to increase their
knowledge and capacities about methodologies for development education,
such as techniques for role play games and other participatory tools.
Development education activities need to be implemented with the
highest awareness and the deepest knowledge: training is never needless.
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
It
is important to promote and develop CoP over our own country,
introducing new subjects in schools such as development education. We
strongly believe that it is possible to achieve this goal by making
aware youth in the schools.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do? -
A platform of the associations should be organised, and possibly a
database of the most representative activities of the civil society
organisations. Networks are crucial tools for the activities of the
civil society. Sometimes they are spontaneous, but on other themes they
need to be stimulated by an external actor.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS
3.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth
participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil
society)?
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated? 7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP?
b) Would you be willing to contact them or may we contact them with the questionnaire? Please specify.
8. My response to this questionnaire is the organisation's opinion
