Questionnaire

Firstly) Is your organization youth-led or primarily youth-serving? Please explain briefly

I work for UNICEF Uzbekistan. It is not youth lead, however, it implements youth oriented programmes.

1. INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES

a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a culture of peace (CoP) would you like to do as an individual?

Create and sustain youth network (or youth parliament) in Uzbekistan and then Central Asia. The network would aim to increase cross-border contacts, erasure of steretypes, basic awareness of democratic principles and human rights. Activities would include workshops, seminars, conferences, trainings and research process.

b) What non-financial support would you need to do these activities?

Support and will from the goverments of these countries and an opportunity to register as an organization. Learn experience of youth networks in other countries. Sustain contacts with other youth networks once ours is created.

c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?

Awareness raising, supporting youth parliament.

d) What non-financial support would your organization need to do these activities?

Like above, support and will from the goverments.

2. SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE UN

a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?

Liberalize registration and rules for non-governmental organizations, empower youth (like include them into decision making, e.g.,Parliament)

b) What CoP youth activities do you think the UN should carry out?

Support youth involvement in decision making, couch young organizations, organize more frequent and larger youth forums, conferences and networks.

3. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on any level (UN, government, civil society)?

Give them more than a voice, give them a chance to act as grown ups, to be responsible for their action and to receive benefits of that action. Give them money, power and knowledge in all levels. Youth and gender elements should be mainstreamed in all orgs at all levels.

4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?

Better media coverage.

5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth on the CoP, how should it be managed/administered?

By youth and for youth.

6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated to get involved?

Better outreach, field activities. Use umbrella methodology.

7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP?

OSCE Centres in Central Asia

b) Would you be willing to contact them or may we contact them with the questionnaire? Please specify.

I'd rather you contact them.

8. My response to this questionnaire is my personal opinion ? _X_
