questionnaire:
1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
Our
organisation already runs a number of events that are aimed at creating
a culture of peace. These predominantly take the form of Model United
Nations conferences, where delegates represent a member state of the UN
and debate international issues from the perspective of that nation.
The UN stands for peaceful resolution to conflict, thus our events are
imbued with the creation of a culture of peace. With additional funding
we would be able to involve a more diverse group of young people in our
events, by offering scholarships.
b) What non-financial support does your organization need to do these activities?
None. We have a strong support base here in New Zealand.
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Our government is already committed to peace, by the very nature of our country's isolation.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
I
believe the best way to promote a culture of peace amongst young people
on an international level is by bringing groups of them from different
backgrounds and nations together to discuss these issues themselves. It
is important however, that the young people selected have networks they
can go back to to disseminate the information they received.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS
3.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth
participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil
society)?
A greater number of youth representatives should be
included in government delegations. It is vital that young people are
involved in the decision making and planning process if they are to
take it over in a peaceful and sustainable manner once they grow up.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
A web-based portal perhaps.
5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
It should be administered as a trust, set up with trustees, to which organisations can make an application for funds.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
Through
the formal education system. This is a long road, but the most
effective one. Alternatively, by involving a big-name pop-star in
promoting CoP.

Dear David
Please
find attached our completed survey. Unfortunately our organisation is
not in a position to hold policy, so I have had to fill it out from my
