1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you like to do as an individual?
I’m answering on behalf of the organization.

b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
I’m answering on behalf of the organization.

c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
We’d like to increase the number of scholarships available to youth – particularly from countries in the Global South – to take part in our voyages for a culture of peace, and the peace education programs onboard these voyages.

We would also like to hold more festivals and advocacy events in the countries that we visit.

We have made some contributions in the past to the United Nations Cyberschoolbus website, which we would love to continue, particularly if there was some extra funding available to support this work.

d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities?
Campaigns at the official UN-level are useful in raising awareness of Culture of Peace issues. The Manifesto 2000 Campaign run by UNESCO in 2000 (where we acted as a messenger) was very effective in generating interest in both the media and local authorities and NGOs.

2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?

Perhaps the single most important activity that could be introduced by the leadership in Japan would be to fund and encourage grassroots youth exchange and peace education focused on genuine historical recognition and regional reconciliation. As this issue is extremely sensitive at the political level, the government should encourage and support NGOs to take the initiative.

b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?

Please see my answer to to 1d) above. Easily accessible campaigns that encourage some interaction and outreach are valuable, and if these can be focused at schools and youth organizations, this would be very effective.
