1.a)
Ongoing training courses, seminars, conferences and workshops on the
subject. International voluntary workcamps, where young people from
different cultures and backgrounds can met and discuss the topic
with each other and exchange of knowledge and experiences, as peace
is not limited to one country or one region, it is a global matter
that should prevail in all places.
b) Training materials,
educational materials, promotional materials, training tools and
methodologies in this field. Best practices and idea of successful
stories in other places.
c) Informal education for the public
on its importance, including employment of all the possible public
relations materials; posters, stickers, radio spots, TV spots,
festivals and conferences. Activities that will promote peace
values, principles of equality and democratic practices.
d)
Training materials, promotional materials and advanced training
methodologies and pedagogical approaches (learning from other
experiences elsewhere in the world).
2.a) Basic Peace
education, non violence actions, Human rights principles.. all
should be included in the policies and even in the official
educational system and curriculum.
b) Ongoing national,
regional and global meetings with governments and civil society
syndicates and activists, enforce the peace education in the school
systems, more elaborative activities on the role of the UN in
promoting global peace. This could take the shape of festivals in
each country (maybe using the UN peace day Sep 21 each year),
international voluntary workcamps on this subject, advertisement
materials on peace and its necessities, documentary films and songs
on this issue, and maybe satellite channel for the CoP issues and
values in several languages.
OPTIONAL
QUESTIONS
3. - the UN must work more on its
credibility/image among the different nations, especially that it
was established as a need for the world and its important that it
wins the trust of the people as a strong and capable and neutral
organization. - allocate some financial, spiritual and moral
incentives for governments, Civil society and private sector
to encourage them to develop projects and activities in this
field. - allocate financial resources for productive initiatives
from the youth sector, even if they were not very well articulated
and presented (to ease the procedures of funding applications). -
dissemination of good practices in this field done by youth from
different places, develop a youth website with discussion forum
where young people can meet and discuss those issues and
others.
4. Create a global network of trusted NGOs where they
act as referees for any activity or action that goes in this
direction. Supervise the flow of information, provide any necessary
support for the actors and stakeholders, and keep some space for any
complains from the youth sector.
5. There should be no
centralization for the UNV initiatives, and to show more flexibility
in providing volunteers to the different organizations. For
instance, our organization had been trying to receive a UNV for many
years now, and seems almost impossible to get one, although other
orgs get volunteers very easily, and this was due to some
bureaucratic procedures and influence by strong or relative
connections that really slow down the motivation of the
organizations. We believe if any org has a good project for the
youth in the field of CoP should benefit from this funds, regardless
of its volume and size.
6. Through developing new
methodologies and tools for motivations. They must have the chance
to learn about it somewhere by some organization. I think the
regional and national offices of the UN should be more flexible and
motivated to reach this target group. Unfortunately, the UN offices
became known as useless and dysfunctional and to some extent self
serving org only. The notion of the UN offices those days in the
middle east is a place where the administration keeps large percent
of the budgets, even those allocated to some projects, for their
administrative cost, to ensure their continuity in their positions,
in addition to that, its known that funds that comes to social
and cultural activities is usually allocated to small number of
organizations, mainly those who have good and influential relations
with the staff at the UN offices.
7.a) Youth Action
for Peace, Service Civil International, and the coordinating
committee for International Voluntary Service.
b) I have
already sent them the questionnaire to them.
8. My response
to this questionnaire is my organisation’s
opinion
