a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a Culture
of Peace (CoP) would you to do as an individual? Conducting an
international Youth Study and Workcamp to work on a community project
whose theme could be Promoting Culture of Peace through workcamps. This
is one way of promoting peace among the youths, avoiding prejudice,
sharing culture values, and promoting oneness that is unique in
diverse, tolerance and gender equality among others.
b) What
non-financial support do you need to do these activities? Working
materials such as shovels, groves, musical instruments etc.
c)
If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would
your organization like to do? International Youth Study and workcamp.
Within the workcamp we would have study session on 8 core areas of
culture of peace. Youth excursions and cultural activities such as
dances,drama, songs, will add value to the exchange of culture. We will
also conduct an open musical concert on the culture of peace. The
concert will include youths from different countries. Sport will also
be used in the workcamp to promote Culture of Peace.

a) What changes in youth policies do you think the
government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Strengthening of youth participation in the decision making and
implementation of the youth policy. Gender equality should be a
priority in the policy implementation. Provision of funds for youth
enterprise development to promote creation of employment and
sustainability. Inclusion of culture of peace in the education
curriculum at every level of education. Promotion and support of both
local and international youth exchange programmes.
b) What CoP
youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do? 1.
Introducing a youth painting/ art competition for youth to come up with
the artistic way of promoting culture of peace 2. Hold an international
Youth workcamp 3. Hold an international music festival 4. Hold an
International Youth drama festival 5. Hold an international conference
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS 3. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil society)?
Youths should be included on any committee at any level to discuss,
plan and implement issues that affect them unlike adults deciding on
their behalf.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure
transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP? Inclusion of
youth in decision making processes, training youths in dissemination of
right information on the CoP, Democratizing youth organisations, open
discussions on the culture of peace.
5. To ensure the best
possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be
managed/administered? A separate youth unit to look into the
administration of the fund should be set up in the UN. The unit should
be backed by a committee of young people constituting different
continents.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities
be reached and motivated? Through attractive activities coupled with a
lot of awareness at local level (community), youth organisations,
learning institutions and churches/temple.
