Answer-: I will organize a Youth for Peace Dialogue forum in three components, namely- 1.
Public meetings with youths and other stakeholders with lots of
experience in peace promotion, whose activities are critical to the
promotion of a culture of peace. 2. Radio/TV discussion programmes
involving youths and other stakeholders from various backgrounds
(political, cultural, religious etc) to encourage the celebration of
diversity, whilst promoting a culture of peace. 3. Produce a
bulletin that will carry information from the two components above and
also add international flavor for our youth to know of peace activities
in other parts of the world. (The prayerful message May Peace Prevail
on Earth will be incorporated in the three activities above.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
Answer-:
I will need laptop computer, a vehicle, and flyers with peace messages.

is simply a way of life for me.

2. a) what changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Answer-:
The problem is not change in policy but ownership and periodical review
of the National Youth Policy. Young people should be involved at all
levels of the preparation of the youth policy (“Nothing for us without
us”), and special funds must be available for its periodic review.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
Answer-:
The UN should push for peace education in schools, create job
opportunities for out of school youths, promote and sponsor youth for
Peace exchange programmes, annually recognize the effort of outstanding
youth towards peace promotion, discourage the production of destructive
weapons/ammunitions, support the campaign against the use of children
as combatants and the proliferation of small arms and light weapons.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS 4.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth
participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil
society)?
Answer-: The largest proportion of the world
population comprise young people, we therefore need an integrated youth
participatory approach to the culture of peace project. This cannot be
easily understood or accepted, it requires trainings and motivation,
some of us are prepared to handle this if the necessary supports can be
made available.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
Answer-:
Without transparency and flow of information you cannot promote the
CoP. So you need to work with credible people and institutions, based
on a clearly defined codes of operation.
5. To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
Answer-:
There should exist a central pool, from which regional pools can be
established. A project proposal template can then be developed, with
clear cut indicators and accounting procedures.
