QUESTIONNAIRE
Firstly) Is your organization youth-led or primarily youth-serving? Please explain briefly.
Youth
Initiators Nigeria is a youth led organization that focuses on issues
around the MDGS including peace and security. Members of Youth
Initiators Nigeria have undergone peace building trainings with the
Apeadu peace centre and have been working on the field. Youth
Initiators Nigeria observes the International Day of Peace and often
work with media sources in promoting peace building initiatives.
1. INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES
a)
If funds were available, what youth activities related to a culture of
peace (CoP) would you like to do as an individual?
Working with young children in school and out of school to catch them young.
b) What non-financial support would you need to do these activities?
Promoting the initiative using media sources and community leaders.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
A
media centre where peace related messages can be broadcasted and a
peace building and conflict resolution training institute where people
can be trained to become peace builders
d) What non-financial support would your organization need to do these activities?
Lobbying the government and community leaders to get a space for the project.
2. SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE UN
a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Policies
that will enhance creation of job opportunities to reduce the number of
restive youths and polices that will enable host communities to natural
resources like oil to benefit from the gains directly.
b) What CoP youth activities do you think the UN should carry out?
Media
centers to broadcast messages of peace and country groups to look into
lingering problems, proffer solutions and monitor implementation.
OTHER QUESTIONS

Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth
participation in CoP activities on any level (UN, government, civil
society)?
Youth representatives to general meetings and board meetings.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
Ensuring that a transparent media is in place.
5.
To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth on
the CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
It could
be best administered if young people are given the right to decide what
are how it should be used because they know best about the problems
they or their peers face daily.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated to get involved?
By networking through media sources, local governments, community leaders and grass root youth organizations.
