Question # 1: If funds were available what Youth activities related to a culture of peace would your organization like to do? Answer: If funds were available, our organization would like to do the following culture of peace youth activities:
i) To launch a "say no to war" youth campaign in schools and
communities as a form of peer counselling to discourage youth from
pursuing the path of violence as a means of addresing grievances, and
promoting peace education and reconciliation in our schools and
communities. ii) To engage in and organize peace
and reconciliation workshops and palaver hut management program in the
communities and schools for the benefit of the students, teacher and
community residents including the family to resolve conflict peacefully
and promote harmony. iii) To undertake community
programs/actions that will ensure the active participation of youth
specifically ex-combatants, women, children and disable people in a
substainable development that will provide a durable solution to their
problems and bring about self reliance, peace and sound environment for
the respect of justice and good neighbourliness. iv) To undertake the avocacy of women and child rights.
v) To initiate multiple types of public education programs to
teach youth the danger of arm conflict throughout the nation. vi) To facilitate the construction of a trauma counselling center for youth, children and women. vii) To construct youth vocational training center. viii) To facilitate the construction and renovation of schools and health centers. ix) To launch anti-rape and drugs compaign.
Question #2: What non-financial support does your organization need for culture of peace activities?
Answer: The non-financial support our organization needs for CoP
activities is to help develop the ability, understanding, knowledge and
skil of it's management team that will enable transparence of capacity
to partners. Question #3: What change in youth
policies do you(organization) think the government/leadership in your
country should make to promote CoP? Answer: We
have observed that government youth -related policies have not been in
the interest of the youth, those policies have been carved to seek the
interest of individuals who see themselves as political god-fathers of
the state and as such does not august well for the future of the youth.
We strongly believe that youth policies should be youth center and must
be given a priority. Having this, we which to recommend the following: i) That the policy on education of youths be revisited and must be given serious attention. ii) That the education of youth program be decentralized. iii) That youth vocational training center be constructed all over the country.
Question #4: Do you have any suggestions or recommendation for
improving youth participation in CoP activities on any level(UN,
Government, Civil society)?
Answer:To improve/ensure
transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP,we think it
is important that partners in progress be given logisticai support so
as to ably decentralise the CoP in all parts of the country.This will
enable partners to establish a data base on youth in the country and
all informations on the CoP youth related activities will be properly
disseminated. #5 To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP,how should it be managed/administered,
Answer:To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for
youth and CoP,a system should be put into place to ensure the proper
management of fund that will be given to partners.This system mut make
sure that funds made available for youth and CoP must be able to summit
a comprehensive report to donos.Finally,partners who received funds for
youth and CoP must be audited. #6How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
Answer:To launch an awareness campaign and to sentitize the
youthful population about the CoP activities,in our nation.We believed
that with the types of attractive programs/activities that CoP/ECLIPSE
has will draw the attentions and motivate them in the process.
