1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you to do as an individual?
Mobilize
youth at community level and channel to national level. This may be
realized through the utilization of existing youth centers, schools,
and communities’ meeting places for that out- of- school youth.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
Technical support will be appreciated.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
Organize
sporting events, talk shows, expression forums and erection of
voluntary environmental care (VEC) programs at the communities. The
VECs may be structured in such a manner that they engage youth from
various walks of life e.g. students, shepherds, young professionals,
etcetera. This will be to promote unity among youth at a particular
residence and also to enhance the spirit of ownership of the work done
collectively.
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
To
promote CoP, our government needs to put in place an enabling
body to work with youth with direct involvement that is also supervised
by youth in such a way that young people shall be able and
easily relate to.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
- Youth forums -Annual residence youth rallies -CoP network species
3.
Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth
participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil
society)?
UN level Intercontinental and trans-country digital
conferences and debates on challenges, experiences, best possible
solutions to common problems and new innovations on proactive
preventive measures can be effected.
Government level The
direct involvement on the life issues that directly affect young
persons especially through the youth councils in drawing up of terms of
reference to combat juvenile delinquency and cultural myths can be
drawn.
Civil society Youth may be mobilized to join youth
organizations that strive for social development as a common goal in
order to provoke a patriotic spirit among young persons.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
In
order to ensure transparency and to come up with new programmes to
improve the flow of information, the use of mass media and mass
gatherings may be used as prime weapons. It is because youth best
relate to radio as it transcends cultural boarders, use of libraries,
and youth news papers.
Mass gatherings in the form of youth
rallies can be used to bring together masses of youth to voice out
their concerns in a spontaneous way as opposed to the conventional
conference talk to improve CoP.
5.To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
In
relation to funds and CoP, countries can through the youth council
assign a commission as a body through the council so that the funds can
be disseminated evenly according to national structures that do not
leave minority groups out. The monitoring & evaluation, and
reporting back to the council that shall compile a national report may
be made to report back to youth council.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
The
erection of local community forums that liaises various youth
organizations and school District/ward forums by direct involved
organizations can help mobilize and motivate youth who do not yet
recognize CoP.
