1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a Culture of Peace (CoP) would you to do as an individual? • I would set up an ICT centre and train youth on importance of Information and technology. •
I would give entrepreneurship support in term of training youth on
business development and giving loans to youth to come up with income
generating activities.
• I would organize camps with specific
themes such as Conflict resolution, promoting intercultural exchange
among youth of different countries and background.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities? We need computers, technical support (this is for business skills) IEC materials and Volunteers
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do? Please read question 1
d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities? Please read question 2
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP? The
government should create a condusive environment for youth to be
involved in all forms of decision making from Politics, Economics and
Constitution making. Set a fund where youth can access loans or grants for education, business and other issues.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do? I
don’t believe very much in United Nations, its way of operating is very
selective especially in African countries pertaining youth issues only
well connected groups work with UN the other are just left behind, but
if CoP can make this initiative involve all groups especially in rural
areas we can really appreciate the gesture
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS 3.
Do you have any suggestions or
recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on
any levels (UN, government, civil society)? At grassroot level it’s the best as all youth get a chance to participate in CoP activities
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP? Like
I said youth in rural areas need ICT to access this kind of information
but at the moment CoP can use posters, magazines, entry points such as
Social and cultural offices to spread its gospel
5. To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered? Set
up committees to manage and run the fund, for example a committee
should consist of representatives from CoP, UN-youth affairs,
beneficiary youth organization, Country representative or Regional
representative for example Africa region, or East African Region but in
my own opinion if we have a large committee there is the issue of red
tape and slow implementation of accessing funds, may there should be an
office in each country that manages the fund and its answerable to CoP
or Un when giving reports and finance accountability and transparency
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated? Please read question 4
8. My response to this questionnaire is my personal opinion ? organisation?s opinion ? Organization opinion
