1.a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you to do as an individual?
I
would focus all funds on education for youth, especially in rural
areas. I would work together with the government and the youth
employment centre here in Ghana. They have a lot of resources, and a
good outreach
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities? I would need resources such as computers, teaching materials, and trainers as experts who could help
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
The
youth council would do the same. The problem with Ghanaian youth is
that most of them are not educated. We would focus on sheer litteracy.
We need to raise litteracy rates. Also we would promote both
formal and informal education. So, vocational skills building is very
important.
d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities?
We would need more materials such as computers and teaching materials, as well as more human resources
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Our
government does not have a youth policy currently. We have drafted one,
and it is waiting for cabinets approval. In Ghana, the culture stands
in the way of youth participation. Youth are not taken seriously,
because what adults say is best. The government needs to take action on
that. Futhermore, a big problem in Ghana is youth employment. The
government needs to make more opportunities for youth employment
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
The UN should give financial as well as non-financial support for the promotion of education and human rights
