QUESTIONNAIRE

Firstly) is your organization youth-led or primarily youth-serving?  Please explain briefly.  

Answer: Bajito Onda Africa Foundation is a youth serving organization which strives to empower youths, women and children in Africa.

1. INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES

a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a culture  of peace (CoP) would you like to do as an individual?

Answer: As an Individual, I will like to participate in the understanding of the Universal Declarations and the Africa Charter understanding by youths for them to be able to undertake the culture of peace.

b) What non-financial support would you need to do these activities?

Answer: The Advocacy work would be done by our staff and all the necessary trainings would be done by our members with out any financial support needed.

c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP Would your organization like to do?

Answer: Bajito Onda Africa Foundation as an organization would like to do Human Right Education in schools so that students will understand the human instruments which will enable them to teach the illiterate mothers and fathers through cultural dramas and performances for their understanding of the human right instruments and articles.

d) What non-financial support would your organization need to do these activities?

Answer: The advocacy and trainings of the students would be done by the organization's staff with out any financial support.

2. SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE UN

a) What changes in youth policies do you think the  government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?

Answer: The Government of the country should make the awareness of human right instruments known to the people in the country and especially the law enforcing officers which are made of youths so that they would be able to embark on promoting the culture of peace in the country.

b) What CoP youth activities do you think the UN should carry out?

Answer:

The UN should support community based organizations and charitable NGOs in the country who are working directly with the youths so as they can established their objectives in promoting the culture of peace.

OTHER QUESTIONS

3. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on any level (UN, government, civil society)?

Answers: The government should indeed look into the youth parliaments issues which is very important and will help guide the government on youth problems in the country. Civil society organizations should work in close relations with youths that are mainly involve in the implementation of government policies especially the law enforcing officers so they will understand the culture of peace through education which will enable them to implement it better.

4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?

Answer: Funds should be given directly to Organizations and civil society organizations that are working directly with the youths so that their aims and objectives will be obtain. Its due to lots of mismanagement of these funds that leads to the achievements of the aims of culture of peace.

5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth on the CoP, how should it be managed/administered?

Answer: It should be given to Civil Society organizations and NGOs that are working directly with the youths. Also those given the funds should be given accurate report about its implementation. The UN body should be also monitoring those activities done by the NGOs and Civil Society organizations.

6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated to get involved?

Answer: The Civil Society Organisations and community service organizations should decentralize the project country wide so as to involve everyone. Discrimination is one main problem that should be taken away by everyone in other to involve every youths in the Culture of Peace.

7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP?

Answer: UNESCO clubs in The Gambia.

Answer: You should contact them also to make it more specific in order for them to answer as soon as possible.
