1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you to do as an individual? In my opinion, COP means everything for youth. What do I mean, why do youth choose war to peace, because the world resources are not utilized for sustainable development of the country. If you are despair, no hope you tend to have negative attitude towards people. So, for example, in my country Ethiopia, UNDP has given micro grant. With this seed money some youth associations are helping themselves and other by creating job. So if funds were available it may be a good start to support these pilot initiatives so that it could be replicated in other youth associations. Then we could address poverty reduction, then "peace" will be a motto for youth.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities? I am not sure, especially a country like Ethiopia which the problem of youth are enormous but the resources are scarce.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do? There are already many proposals submitted, designed and formulated by themselves, like metal works to assist small irrigation and hand pump well, as well as diversity activities preparing seedling (cash crops like onion)etc.,
d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities? - These youth associations need not only financial support but technical, financial /managerial capacities. They need also experience sharing visits to see the best practices.
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
In principle, the Ethiopian National Youth Policy attempted to address social, economical, cultural, and political issues. So it already mentioned that peace and stability in the country brings development to the country. In this regard, not much is need for the time being.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
All the activities/initiatives should be linked to MDG, since today's youth is beneficial of tomorrow's goal.
OPTIONAL QUESTIONS 3. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on any levels (UN, government, civil society)?
First of all, youth must represented and be the centerpiece of all programs/project. I suggest that all stakeholders to work in an integrated manner so that no duplication of efforts and to use the meager resources optimally.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP? Clearly defined management arrangements for the implementation of the youth programs/projects.
5. To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
It needs clear and concise arrangement with the counter parts which are executing and implementing the projects.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
If the resources permit, to outreach may not be a problem thanks to the Information Communication Technology (ICT).
7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP? Not sure but I know UNICEF and World Bank assists youth.
b) Would you be willing to contact them or may we contact them with the questionnaire? Please specify.
Yes you may contact them.
