QUESTIONNAIRE

Firstly) Is your organization youth-led or primarily youth-serving? Please explain briefly

1. INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL ACTIVITIES

a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a culture of peace (CoP) would you like to do as an individual?

I would be mainly engaged with panel discussions and forums for dialogues on different topics: mostly concerning ethinincity, tolerance, religion, culture... Because, I believe that having this kinds of discussions would teach us a lot about our differences and it would eventually lead us to an understanding.

I would also have different sorts of public events like mass rallys (walks), cultural exhibitions and bazars, making billboards and banners that remind people of peace, collecting signatures of people against unpeaceful practices going on.

b) What non-financial support would you need to do these activities?

Moral support and participation interms of reaching people: inviting people to the programs, making presentations, writing support letters, sharing ideas

c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?

probablly the same things I suggested for (a) above.

d) What non-financial support would your organization need to do these activities?

2. SUPPORT FROM GOVERNMENT AND THE UN

a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?

I don't know about policies, but I think the government should encourage more young people to take hold of positions in parliaments and other important and decisive positions. I strongly believe that young people should be given chances as they have a lot of energy and passion for the things they are doing.

And also education should be well thought of and should be made available to young people in big numbers.

b) What CoP youth activities do you think the UN should carry out?

More dialogues at all levels and among all countries' youth on different peace topics, trainings, have peace inculcated into curriculums of nations.
3. Do you have any suggestions or recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on any level (UN, government, civil society)?

Have more programs to youth everywhere, publish News papers, have a central Youth Radio program. Invite more youth groups to take action.

4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?

5. To ensure the best possible benefit of a UN Voluntary Fund for youth on the CoP, how should it be managed/administered?

Give the Fund on the basis of a well presented budjet line. Have reports of how the fund was put into use afterwards and check it well.

6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated to get involved?

Prepare different discussion programs in Universities and colleges and in every avenue where youth could be found.

7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP?

b) Would you be willing to contact them or may we contact them with the questionnaire? Please specify.

8. My response to this questionnaire is my personal opinion ? YES / organization's opinion ? ___

Subject: Re: What is your organization and where is it located ?

Dear David,

I am currently not actively involved in any organization but I believe that shouldn't hinder me from working for Human Rights causes. I have been participating and still am participating in some organizations.

I can say I am currently very much involved with the Addis Ababa University Women Students Association. It is located in the University and it was founded by me and my other friends three years back. I have been involved in many youth organizations as active and passive participant.

Besides to this, currently I am the Head of External Relations Desk of the City Government of Addis Ababa. I have taken this position for a year and 4 months have already gone. I am planning in continuing my education for Masters programme.

I am volunteer to serve your initiative and you may give me any asignments with regards to that.

I wish you Good luck on the proposal.

Halima Mohammednur
