1. a) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would you to do as an individual?
Answer: First
and foremost, there is real unemployment here in Cameroon. This is one
of the main things that is threatening peace in Cameroon and somehow
the world in general. As such I would start by making all youths
understand the essence of world peace so I can make them know and
acknowledge the need for sustainability through common initiative and
the development if inner inherent skills and talents to make ends meet
than to temper with world peace. This will a long way to lead to the
respect for human rights since those educated with the very good value
of culture of peace shall not do anything without proper consideration
of its effects.
b) What non-financial support do you need to do these activities?
Answer: What
I know about peace in general and the culture of peace in particular is
just a response to my own stimulus and thought. As such the very first
tool I should need will be the proper training to carry such a world
humanitarian work. After a developed human potential in that aspect,
means of correspondence, communication and mobilisation shall be very
necessary. For correspondences and communication, at least available
access to the Internet and a personal computer (possibly a laptop)
shall also be important.
c) If funds were available, what youth activities related to a CoP would your organization like to do?
Answer: We
shall want to first create awareness on the very great need for peace
despite whatsoever crisis at any given instance. This will arouse some
curiosity and the avenue for execution, which shall be the organization
of seminars and workshops to train people and develop their inner
potentials to better their lives and consequently ensure world peace
indirectly. Remember the worst moment in one’s life is when hungry.
d) What non-financial support does your organization need for CoP activities?
Answer: We
shall need mainly the working materials like resource information,
computers, and means of movement arround, not leaving out seminar and
workshop materials. This shall also require resorce persons during
training workshops and seminars.
2. a) What changes in youth policies do you think the government/leadership in your country should make to promote a CoP?
Answer: The
government must start it all by handling proper youth occupancy; that
is employment be it by the government or by the self. As such there
must be such guidance right away from school and during apprenticeships
and beyond until full occupancy. The most potential of conditions which
is very potent to hamper world peace is idleness since. This is because
on still gets hungry and cannot obviously feed well since one depends
only on what is being provided maybe by parents of well-wishers. Also
there must be proper allocation of public fund with all equity. This is
because if everything is in line and ther is still poverty and misery,
there still reigns peace since the peoples’ minds shall be at peace.
b) What CoP youth activities/initiatives do you think the UN should do?
Answer: The
UN has the preoccupation just to equip the human potential and
resources of a good number of youths and equip them to preach work to
enhance the CoP
3. Do you have any suggestions or
recommendations for improving youth participation in CoP activities on
any levels (UN, government, civil society)?
Answer: At the
level of the UN, what is has got to do is just to empower the
governments through stricter policies that will favor youth occupancy
and commitment in employment be it by self or the government or civil
society. This is possible through follow-up grants to see that they are
actually put where intended. This is very possible if the UN stand on
their feet to do that, but for the fact that they neglect some of those
things. In Cameroon, the government is very aware of the inherent
problem of unemployment which is at thw focal point of threatening
world peace, it it does nothing at all to remedy the situation. Upon
that our voice is not heard, our cry seem to be too low such that it is
often pseudo heard only through strike actions and demonstrations which
is not and can never be any indication to lasting peace. So the culture
of peace is being destroyed than being cultivated. What the civil
society needs most is just the education stressing on the importance of
peace and teaching them the secrete of a culture of peace on conflict
management and on how to table problems and difficulties to be handled
properly.
4. What could be done to improve/ensure transparency and flow of information in promoting the CoP?
Answer: I
think that the best and only way to improve and ensure transparency and
flow of information in promoting the culture of peace is by making sure
that the education given and the information being sent out to the
world populations must not be biased in any way. It is only through
bias that many people will become very skeptical and start being too
critical and questioning. Immediately it comes to that point, the
policy would have failed since every person than going in to learn will
rather go in to look for faults.
5. To ensure the best possible return of a voluntary fund for youth and CoP, how should it be managed/administered?
Answer: For
me the very best way could be getting and putting in place all the is
needed for the volunteers to work properly and comfortably. This shall
so much curb down side distractions without any valid explanation.
Specifically by getting all materials (didactics and transportation)
and ensuring the basic needs of the said individuals for a certain time
period for intensive work. The volunteers must be well trained such
that all these facilities do not sink.
6. How can youth not yet involved in CoP activities be reached and motivated?
Answer: I’ll
want to in the first place confess here that I do not know any CoP
activity. Whatsoever there are always youth activities in every society
particular for us here like the youth week, cultural week for students
during summer holidays and youth jamborees all the time. These are
avenues to exploit. Its that simple; just get in contact with the
organizers before hand talk it out first with one, then the others. To
the best of my knowledge if one knows what he/she is looking for, he
cannot fail. Less I forget, in such occasions make sure you are very
brief and strait to the point. I don’t know if I’m making any point
here.
7. a) Which other organizations do you know of, that work for a CoP?
Answer: There is REFORM CLUB, BALI NYONGA with coordinator in the person of PRYDE NUBEA SEMA, Tel: 237 777 30 64, Email: prydens@yahoo.co.uk
b) Would you be willing to contact them or may we contact them with the questionnaire? Please specify.
Answer: I’ll
forward it over to them, but you could check by Friday by maybe calling
to reinforce the tie. If you are not ok with that let me know
8. My response to this questionnaire is my personal opinion ? organisation?s opinion ?
Answer: It
is my personal opinion. I’ll also like to inform you that my
organization is a common initiative group and I coordinate matters
concerning this since I’m so much attached to. Name of organization:
CENTER FOR EDUCATION & REHABILITATION Address: BUEA Contact Person: DENIS KEHDINGA SEMA E-mail: kehsema@yahoo.co.uk Telephone and fax: 237 736 28 13
