2007:
Apeadu Peace Center, Children of the Earth, World Peace Prayer Society and Southern Maryland Peace collaborated in arranging a Peace March in Accra. A Peace Pole was planted about 12:00 p.m. The March was a call from refugee youth to stop the violence against the youth of Darfur.
Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Peace Projects Secretariat in Kumasi organized a Peace Vigil around the World Heritage Peace Pole Garden.
The Peace Clubs of the Peace Clubs Network – Sissala East District in Tumu, each held a series of Drama/Poetry competitions with Peace as the theme. The climax on Peace Day was a mini durbar and route march calling on traditional authorities and local government to be proactive in ensuring peace in conflict prone communities for sound development of all peoples, particularly children.
World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) in Kanifing organized “Give Peace a Chance” programs.
2005:
Center for Spiritual Enlightenment took part in a Peace Meeting on September 21, in Accra. The four members that participated brought back string that would tie people together symbolically. On the same theme, in a meeting with a catholic group, more string was tied together during a prayer for Peace. The string is called “thread for Peace” and the idea is to get the whole world involved.
Global Youth Action Network (GYAN) Ghana Northern Sector Office and the Student World Assembly observed International Day of Peace at the campus of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. A number of youth organizations were invited to participate. Activities included messages from religious leaders, young people working for Peace and the UN Secretery-General, as well as a candle light vigil.
West Africa Network for Peacebuilding (WANEP) joined the celebrations of International Day of Peace through its sub-division, West Africa Peacebuilding Institute (WAPI). WAPI organized a Peace march followed by prayers and speeches and a cultural variety night. Participants of the institute come from various countries in Africa and beyond.

On a global level, reported events for the International Day of Peace continue to grow year after year (see the website listed above):
In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.
The 2007 records show that: * We had 623 commitments across the world * 70 countries * 225 cities (outside of the USA) * 42 US states * An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants * An average of 500 people per event
2009 annual report listed 700+ events
