2007:
The Somali Basketball Federation held a basketball game in the "1st July Stadium" in the capital city of Mogadishu for the remembrance of the International Day of Peace. Boys of the Al-Sha'ab basketball team and the Jaaliyadda Yemen basketball team competed during the fiercely contested game on Friday. Representatives from UNICEF's office in Mogadishu attended, along with Mohamed Osman Ali, Mogadishu's deputy mayor of public affairs, youth organizations national basketball vice president, Ibraahim Hussein Ali. and his general secretary, Ali Amiin Hajji. The deputy mayor addressed the stadium and said that the Somali government will encourage peace and sport.
World Vision Somalia marked this year's International Day of Peace on September 22nd in Waajid, southern Somalia. The same occasion was used to mark 15 years of World Vision‟s work in the country. The venue was a Child Friendly Space, which was opened officially by East Africa's area director, Robby Muhumuza, as part of the celebrations. The Waajid Child Friendly space provides a place for Somali children to play, laugh, and heal. The governor of Bay/Bakool region urged the gathering to paint a picture of peace of Somalia to the international community. Other highlights of the day included a Peace March, an art exhibition in which children drew what peace meant to them, a football match and dinner for the children.

In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.
The 2007 records show that:
* We had 623 commitments across the world
* 70 countries
* 225 cities (outside of the USA)
* 42 US states
* An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants
* An average of 500 people per event
2009 annual report listed 700+ events
