CEREA envisions being a partner in the creation of a responsible society where individuals, organizations, and communities are free and empowered in advancing their legitimate aspirations, values and dignity; are aware and concerned of their economic well-being, socio-cultural and environmental heritage; and are active participants in accelerating development.
CEREA is committed to be the vehicle for interactions among government, academe, development institutions, industry, church and the tri-people in the pursuit of knowledge and development. Its goal is to provide relevant experiences, responsive programs and functional services to meet the competencies of individuals, organizations, sectors and communities in the improvement of the quality of life.
The programs of CEREA are implemented by its departments: the Community Extension and Education Department (CEED), the Research and Development Department (RDD), the Institute for Peace and Development Studies (IPDS), the Institute for Global Education and International Relations (InGlobE), the Farm Learning Resource (FLRD), , and the Center for Media and the Arts (CMA).
Southern Christian College – Community Education Research and Extension Administration (SCC CEREA) efforts to engage in creating venues for dialogues and discourses and as a vehicle for interaction have been continually intensified not only because of the aggravating volatile Mindanao situation but also because of the learning experiences of its personnel during the past projects’ cooperation with EED and other partners that made them knowledgeable, skilled and proficient.

SCC has designed educational and outreach programs geared towards community development and partnered with communities and organizations where others failed or were afraid to reach.
The leadership and programs of SCC have provided the space and activities where the Tri-People and Sustainable and Ecological approaches to conflict transformation and com-munity development have been woven and mainstreamed into its programs.
Service learning as an integral part of the academic programs bridges the school and the community.
The ability of SCC leadership to be where the action is as intervener, providing a bridging leadership both horizontal and vertical has provided a peace voice for the armed conflict. Its presence in conflict communities through its local community workers and partner communi-ties are effective quick response mechanisms for the prevention of conflict escalation.
