PRIORITIES: All of the organization's domains of culture of peace activity

TOP PRIORITY: The organization's most important culture of peace activity

PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?

Ayala Foundation; GILAS; Assisi Development Foundation; CRS; Peace and Development Centre, Western Mindanao State University; Philippine Department of Education; and the Wahid Institute.

ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

In our two years of programming since we incorporated, we have involved approximately 15,000 youth throughout Indonesia and the Philippines.  We have used ICT – particularly, mass videoconferencing -- to bridge the majority of these youth in interfaith dialogues and workshops.   Many of these youth have learned about prejudice and its costs.  Some have learned how to overcome discrimination.

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

Our results have been positive with regards to reducing prejudice between our program beneficiaries.  On a community-wide level, tolerance between groups in Indonesia seemingly improves.  The situation on the ground in the Philippines remains poor.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

Our programs have been well-received.  And despite our including program participants who might oppose pluralism and tolerance, we have so far had only support.  Challenges are more in administration and ensuring that programs are conducted in a time-effective manner

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

We have had programs in Indonesia and the Philippines.  We intend to deepen our programs in these countries and then expand to the Middle East and the West, using our SE Asian programs as models.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

By leveraging ICT and using it as a way to connect peoples on a mass-scale.
