2009
Joensuu: A charity concert, "Trees Rock For Peace", provided tree seedlings to ENO (Environment Online) schools in Africa.
2007
Environment Online (ENO) organized an international tree-planting event for children and youth from schools in 104 countries, including children from schools in Joensuu, who planted trees for the environment and peace on the International Day of Peace.
International Early Education Center with the help of high school students organized playschool and kindergarten students into a peace parade around their neighborhood in Tampere.
United Religions Initiative (URI) Forum of Religions in Helsinki organized a celebration called “Reflections of Peace” in the International Cultural Center in Helsinki. There was music, poetry, and prayer from several different religions and world views.
2005
World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS) A school in Espoo held a Peace celebration on September 21, with 400 students attending. A big Peace Dove was flown by the students, as they repeated “May Peace Prevail on Earth” in different languages. Information about the importance of Peace and justice was given to the students in the form of slides from Africa. Also on Peace Day, the interfaith group Religious Forum in Helsinki URI visited a Shia mosque for a Peace event. People from different faith groups read sacred texts and poems that inspire them to walk the path of Peace. The event ended with a prayer.

On a global level, reported events for the International Day of Peace continue to grow year after year (see the website listed above):
In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.
The 2007 records show that:
* We had 623 commitments across the world
* 70 countries
* 225 cities (outside of the USA)
* 42 US states
* An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants
* An average of 500 people per event
2009 annual report listed 700+ events
