PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes
in the sense that many of the principles of restorative justice have
been adopted in some schools and some parts of the justice system.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Inertia and tradtition: People wanting to do things in the same old way it has been done.
|
ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
--Creation of a full time position devoted to restorative justice practices and victim services. --Many
training sessions and speaking engagements to promote peacemaking and
conflict resolution practices and techniques throughout the
county.
--Collaboration with other community groups and organizations (see below)
--Program operations bringing victims and offenders together to resolve conflict. --Resolving group conflicts in neighborhoods of multiple cultural backgrounds.

We network with --The International Institute for Restorative Practices --Minnesota Coalition for Restorative Justice --Rice County Court System --Rice County Sheriff’s Office --the MN state prison in Faribault --schools in Rice County --County-wide programs youth service organizations (private, NGO) --Victim service providers and advocates

Continue and strengthen the programs for restorative justice.
