PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
School
446 has been a member of friendship school programmes since 1998. We
have got friends at Sala and Uppsala schools (Sweden). Our school’s
delegations visited Sweden in 2000 and 2003 to discuss ecological
problems and plans of nature care. School 446 has also got friends at
ecological schools in Kiev, Ukraine, and Uralsk, Kazakhstan.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Delegations of our school have participated in:
- the international conference of Life-Link held in Moscow and “RRR” (2004);
- the monitoring “Students’ Health and Environment”;
- the 3rd Russian Congress Devoted to Nature Protection;
- the World Forum “Spirituality and Consensus”;
- the UNESCO International Contest “For Prominent Achievements in Ecology” (2003-2004);
- the “School of 2003” International Exhibition;
- actions of the “Green Peace” and “Green Cross”;
-
expeditions to the Khibins and Urals mountains (taking pictures and
developing projects devoted to ecological problems and nature
protection);
- the “Earth is Our Home” Contest.
Pupils of our school:
- have won numerous city and regional contests on ecology and geology;
- have prepared booklets devoted to the ecology path in Izmailovo Park, Moscow;
- have planted trees in Taman (Ukraine), Moscow, Pushchino.
- organised and held a competition of school artists – “Peace is better than War”.

We are going to participate in the projects “The Olympic Truce” and “The Culture of the World”.
