PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Our work, which has been going on for more than ten years has focused on the following: 1.
Conducting of Self-Transformation Seminar to various organizations,
NGOs, schools, religious organizations, companies, for the purpose of
bringing inner peace as a foundation of outer peace. 2.
Establishment of schools founded a culture of peace and love; where
there is no competition or use of threat to motivate; where children
are taught conflict resolution 3. Publication of "Peace Ideas", a quarterly bulletin on practical ideas for inner and outer peace 4. Networking and cooperation with various other organizations that promote peace and human transformation

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Limited
number of facilitators to conduct seminars; limited number of teachers
who have gone through the self-transformation process deeply. There is
a need to widen and deepen the training program in order to accelerate
the effectiveness of the work
|
ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
We
have been continually conducting seminars to groups within and outside
of the Philippines, including to mixed religious groups in Mindanao in
order to foster better inter-religious understanding. In the schools,
we have regularly asked students to present dramas that exemplify
effective conflict resolution approaches. Publication of Peace Ideas
continues.
Peace
Ideas: a quarterly publication on inner and outer peace by the Peace
Center of the Theosophical Society in the Philippines.

give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
Focus
on public education; intensify the development of approaches on peace
education through the schools; promote and fund pilot efforts in
various countries.
