PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
CSC
adopts an approach that relates social work and peace through the
asserting the relation between internal peace and social justice on one
side and peace in the region (the relation between peace in and peace
within). The organization, which was established at the begining of the
decade, feels a progress in promoting a model of social work that is
based on peace values among the community and among other civil society
organization (CSO) the its capicity building activities offered to such
CSOs.Also, CSC offers activivities in community education in the field
of human rights and democracy among its activities.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
The
most important obstacle to our efforts and activities is the Israeli
occupation and invasions to the Palestinian territories. Another
obstacle to promote our approach of social work and its relation to
peace building is the traditional approaches adopted by other community
organization and the lack of established social rights and their
practice by Palestinian National Auhtority agencies due to the first
obstacle.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

CSC
is part of a regional program (McGill Middle East Program for Social
Justice and Peace Building) that includes 5 other organizations from
Palestine, Israel and Jordan in cooperation with McGill University,
Montreal, Canada. CSC participates in reginal meetings that networks
efforts in this domain.
