PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes,
we have been largely involve in dealing with conflict in rural villages
found in tropical places in the Upper denkyira destrict. lot of progress has been achieved and we are hoping to further make progress in the second half of the campiagn. We
have been successful bringing about peace between three rural and
tropical villages in ghana.they have also been educated on the
importance of tolerance...... The communities now meet together to
discuss development issues which was non existent previously as there
were conflict and litigation. The upper denkyira district has seen a
lot of progress in chieftancy related issues as most have been dealt
with or withdrawn from law court for a more peaceful and traditional
settlement.
|
OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
What
we encountered most in our campaign was that the Media were unwilling
to support the campaign and those that did demanded money from the
campigners in other to cover the event...
Media houses were also not interested in the campign and largely the campaign in ghana was not adequately covered. Therefore
the campaign was on a low key in Ghana.UN agencies were also not
helpful as they provided nothing in terms of materials to help...
|
