PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes :

The Micro-Loan project: The project’s beneficiaries and profits have
increased. Loan recipients started to work in projects for export to
neighbouring countries.
* The Catering project: Unemployed women
were paid to serve traditional Arabian coffee in wedding and funeral
receptions. The project first started in the governorate of Muharraq,
but now covers the whole country, and even competes with other
societies.
Measures of success:
* Project expansion and wide-scale circulation
* Increase in clients and beneficiaries
* Good reputation and high profits
* Personnel increase

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

Major obstacles encountered :
* Funding for the development of our projects
* Lack of space, especially after the expansions made in our projects
* We still have two projects ready for execution, but there is not enough funding.

undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?

Action areas :
* Developmental projects such as the MicroStart project, Catering project and Al-Naqda Embroidery project
* Cultural, social and sports activities
* Kindergarten
* Legal counselling office in cooperation with volunteer lawyers

* Launching the Catering project in 1999
