PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
There
has being tremendious progress towards a culture of peace in my state
especially this year that is mid of the decade.The indicators to
measure this progress are,1.People returning to their homes after
fleeing due to incidents of gun battles that occured in those
domains.2.Economic activities resuming .3.The youths that were at each
others throat ,publicly embracing each other and swearing an oath that
the hostilities would not return.4.The state govt.diverting thier
attention to developmental activities and utilising funds to pursure
developmental activities.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?

Some disgruntled elements that have being benefitting from this violences.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
We
have being putting up articles in the media.Organising youth forums
concerning the culture of peace.We have not celebrated the
International Day of Peace sept 21st.The crisis that engulfed my domain
started last year ,so we are planning on celebrating this years peace
day in a grand style.

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
The
Sec.Gen and the General assembly should deploy everything within its
powers to bring the war in Iraq to a logically conclusion.Committees
should be set up to recieve infos from people in regions that foresee
crisis,lets dont fold our arms and watch these crisis unfold,efforts
should be gear towards nipping it in the bud.Prevent it is said is
better that than cure.

Global Youth Action Network organises of Global Youth Service Day.Youth organisations in my domain.
