PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
The organisation experience progress in terms of gender parity in relation to peace advocacy. Similarly, the organisation witnessed a monumental increase in girl child education for development.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
There has been problem of institutional and infrastructural facilities. Also there is problem of value dissonance and lack of support from government and Nigeria's creme-de-la-creme.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
The organisation hosted an interactive forum on the role of female gender in peace advocacy and development. The
organisation facilitated a workshop on bridging the gap in terms of
oppportunities between the men folk and females and an avenue was
created to mobilise the females to contribute their own quota to
development via the instrumentality of information technology. The
organisation created awareness on peace building and the role of women
in developmental initiatives during and after the international day of
peace.

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
The
Secretary-General should encourage scientific and technological
innovations. Because,Nigeria is blessed with talented scientist that
knows the secret of inventions but unfortunatly there has been lack of
support by the government. The Secretary-General should provide
financial and infrastructural support for non governmental
organisations that are into peace advocacy. The Secretary-General
and general assembly should enforce multinational companies to
implement a comprehensive and corporate social responsibility for their
host communities .

networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
Relief network project,linking youths of Nigeria for exchange(LYNX), TAKING IT GLOBAL(TIG)

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
To
empower the female gender in information and communication technology
and extending same to the less preveledge in rural areas. To publish a journal or news letter entitled women and ICT. To seek grants and scholarships for female students in ICT . The
organisation will conduct seminars,workshops and fora on the role of
women in peace promotion via ICT. In the same vein, the organisation
will contribute editorial articles on peace and development in Nigerian
media. The organisation will seek for grants with a view to expanding the existing structures and facilities in the academy.
