PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yer
our organization has seen significant progress toward a culture of
peace in our domain of action: education. The main indicators are: 1)
The number of groups which are active in Italian towns to create a
culture of peace and spread culture and education (Torino, Milano,
Bologna, Perugia, Roma, Formia, Palermo, Catania, Cittą della Pieve)
2)
The number of initiatives (open conferences, seminars, forums)
organised alla over Italy. In 2005 we have planned 27 conferences of
Bandiera della Pace open to the public.
3) The international
contacts: we created a network of active relationships based on
cooperation with many groups all over the world: groups which share the
same point of view on the theme of peace (Russia, United States,
Brazil, Germany, Uk, India)

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
The
main obstacle is to make that people who take part in our activities
become available to go in depth in transforming their
consciousness towards peace and become involved in the process on a
regular basis. We pay attention to make this work a continuous process.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Among our activities:
a) The creation of active groups working and studying the Culture of Peace in several towns in Italy;
b) The organization of Conferences and seminars open to the public;
c)
The celebration of the International Day of Peace on Spetember 21
through participating in an international meditation vigil on peace;
d) The installation of three peace poles ("May peace prevail on earth") next to our centers of activity

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
To
strenghten efforts towards education and consciousness development. To
stenghten international group work. Increase meditation work. To
multiply information and channel of access to the public opinion about
the initiatives taken by UN and other international institution. To
dvelop more the awareness of interconnection between people and
countries and the importance to take care after the common Good and not
just after the own personal one.

PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
We
actually are a part of the Community of Living Ethics of Cittą della
Pieve , Umbria and have active partnerships wth numerous international
groups such as: Center for Visionary Ledership (Washington DC); World
Servers Intergroup, Pax Cultura (Russia, Germany) Pathways to Peace;
Lifebridge (New York); Intuition in Service (New Zealand)

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
1)On September 2005 we plan to organize a 2 days Forum on Culture of peace to be held in Cittą della Pieve, Umbria
2) Participation in International Forums in United States, Russia, Polonia, with presentation of reports
3) Conferences and workshops to be held on a regular basis (3 to 4 per year) in many Italian towns
4) Creation of permanent groups working on peace issue through meditation and study all over Italy
5)
Establishment of a center named "Banner of Peace" in Darjeeling, India,
to deepen the cooperation with Indian people to spead about every topic
regarding culture and peace
