PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
YES, As
our name denotes we work on the principles,teachings and action devised
by Mahatma Gandhi,Father of the Nation,India.His principal teaching is
Non-violence and peace.The place our organization is having its head
quarters is experiencing occassional spurts of communal vilence,we
effectively intervene at the time of such incidents and with the help
of the civic authorities and both the communities try to bring
normalcy.The main issue is economical.Lack of avenues for employment
and work.We are trying to address the said problem head on by creating
economic independence to the unemployed youths from all the
communities.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
Lack of response from the government. Projects are not cleared in time and on some pretext or other the projects are delayed unduly.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Creation of awareness among the population about peace,non vilence.By creating avenues for employment etc International day of peace was celebrated with rallies and talks on the effectiveness of peace over tension etc.

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
We
are of the opinion that violence is the result of social tension
between people and communities on sharing of land,water,work and
resources.We have to urge the people to utiolize the resources
according to their need and not to satisfy their greed.

PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
We
partner with Office of the Commissioner for Khadi and Village
Industries to spread the message of Gandhi,create awarness about the
etmtreprenurial oppertunities etc.

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
we
are on the look out for building up a partnership with good
intenational organization to promote world peace,eradication of poverty
and unemployment etc.
