PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes
Dialogos has seen a tendency of a more calm reaction in the areas
in Bolivia and Nepal where the organization is working.
We
have not developed special indicators to measure progress but the open
and honest discussion and confidence with our counterparts has proven
that it is possible to work in the areas even the political situation
are tense.

OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
The
lack of confidence in the rural area (Bolivia) with the central
initiated democratic process is the main obstacle. In Nepal it is the
dramatic tension between the royal led and the popular resistance
organizations.
Poverty and the lack of infrastructure.

ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
The non violence concept is a cross cutting issue in all our projects but we have no special activities regarding peace.

ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
Continue to fight for the importance of the UN
Not only respect but mutual respect.

networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
We are members of the Danish network www.global.dk

PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
All our projects will continue to highlight the cross cutting issue: promote a culture of peace.
