PROGRESS: Has your organization seen
progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of
action and in your constituency during the first half of the Decade? |
Yes.
|
OBSTACLES: What are the most important obstacles that have prevented progress?
|
We
think the biggest difficulty is the lack of information, followed by
inappropriate conditions of accessibility in the city which involves
all issues (streets, buildings, bridges, public transportation, etc.)
and last but not least, the need for a better qualification of disabled
people.
|
ACTIONS: What actions have been
undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence during the first half of the Decade?
|
Our
work is focused on the inclusion of less favored people, especially
disabled people, in society, in a way to improve effectively the
participation on it.
|
ADVICE: What advice would you like to
give to the Secretary-General and the General Assembly to promote a
culture of peace and nonviolence during the second half of the Decade? |
We
would like to suggest special attention to provide a better life`s
quality to disabled people. We think the means to do it in health would
be achieved by giving a differentiated and priority treatment to them.
More participation of society and a better preparation of teachers and
schools would improve conditions in regular education. At work, better
conditions of employment, suitable transports, partnerships between non
profit organization and private companies to make projects of
qualification in nacional level for them. Finally, to spread all
possible information in favor of the inclusion of not only these people
but also other less favored ones (HIV carriers, mentally disordered,
etc.) in our society.
|
PARTNERSHIPS: What partnerships and
networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the
global movement for a culture of peace? |
|
PLANS: What new engagements are
planned by your organization to promote a culture of peace and
nonviolence in the second half of the Decade (2005-2010)? |
The
trainning of instructors and teachers of public and private education
to become able to teach appropriately disabled people, the selection
and qualification of these people, the preparation of the companies to
become able to receive them in all levels from accessibility till
information and work to promote the conscious of the abilities they
have. Give necessary support to the public department improving cities
and transportation in accessibility and preparing public attendents in
a friendly way to receive and getting job with special people. Improve
trainning and development for both - disabled people to be
included as a regular condition in job`s market and non disabled people
to get better information about differents condition of lives in a way
to receive, in any case, special people to work together.
