The noon minute of silence was held, and participants chanted and prayed for peace, contacting thousands through their outreach in local faith communities, schools, municipal departments, and community centers. Brass bells rang at noon in local shopping centers, and a large rainbow Peace candle was used to light individual candles. (2004)

World Peace Prayer Society (WPPS)

A group of seven Brisbane women met on a hilltop overlooking the 0cean, beaming loving thoughts of peace and healing energy out over the ocean to all countries, especially those most in need at the present time, so that the Light of Peace encompassed the earth, linking up the global vigil of prayers for world peace. (2004)

In Geelong Botanic Gardens, a Peace Pole was planted on IDP, and reported by local press.

In Western Australia, the City of Cockburn celebrated IDP on Monday, September 20 at the Atwell Community Centre. The event aimed to promote non-violent conflict resolution and let the community learn about the services available to them. WPPS and several other groups - including the Atwell Family Support and Metropolitan Migrant Resource Center - had display tables with information material, Peace poles, badges and bumper stickers. The Peace Offerings Booklet was a big highlight and generated lots of queries. The celebrations began at 10 am with the traditional Aboriginal blessings and welcome ritual, honoring the true owners of the land. This was followed by an address by the Chief Guest, the city’s Federal Member of Parliament. The program for this IDP celebration also included henna body painting, belly dancing and children’s face painting. (2004)

Youth Hostel Association (YHA) South Australia-Affiliated with the International Youth Hostel Federation - a worldwide network of youth hostels committed to encourage peace and understanding among all peoples. "On Sunday September 19th we are holding a music and dance festival in Adelaide, South Australia and are hoping to get up to 500 people, we are all very excited and have been working very hard to get it all together. We have a lot of local musicians and performers so the line up should be great. We decided it better to have the day on a Sunday, as a Tuesday wouldn't be suitable for getting people to come along. YHA's mission is in the quest for world peace. We have a total of 8 YHA hostels participating.
