ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

We have organized conferences and meetings with people of different faiths. The reports have been published in our newsletter:
http://www.interrel.de/newslett.htm

There are two foundations which help to promote interfaith understanding:
The foundations Apfelbaum give us the possibility to deliver each year the INTR°A-Award for the Complementation of the Religions (for sustainable interfaith and intercultural initiatives).
Details: http://www.interrel.de/preis.htm

The foundation "Omnis Religio" supports projects of interfaith structure. Details: http://www.interrel.de/stiftung.htm

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

We see some progress in intercultural understanding and in the encounter of people of different faiths, especially in Germany. On the other side we see also an increase of fundamentalistic activities and islamophobic polemics.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

Obstacles are the fact that we are a small organization with members who work on a voluntary base. So that we have difficulties to present our activities in the medias, e.g. in the national newspapers or in the TV.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

We work together with the university of Essen (working place for interreligious learning), we plan new conferences asking what can religions do to promote a climate of reconciliation.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

It is necessary that the different organizations are linked together and try to hold contacts continuously by mail or by encounters on different levels.
