ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

Our NGO is working to raise awareness among international youth about refugees and refugees’ issues, encouraging activism and further empower refugee children and communities through letter and cultural exchange.

We work also intensively in capacity building, increasing the skills and knowledge of local NGOs and volunteers in developing countries, as well as in Europe, by giving online training courses.

Together with our partners we have produced educational material related to refugees issues which has been disseminated in several European countries.

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

We think that in the last years the population has become more aware and started to take action in issues like: gender,
tolerance and intercultural dialogue. The civil society has become a power that cannot be ignored anymore. Also, the number of new activities and organizations has increased and are reaching more and more people every day.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

The main obstacles that we have faced were lack of funds and sometimes overlapping of activities due to the lack of coordination among organisations working on related areas.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

We are planning to continue doing awareness raising campaigns and participate in educational projects.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

We think that the culture of peace can be strenghtened at world level by enhacing networking between organizations. Collaboration with the media can help playing an important role in this.
