PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?


ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

Georgian Committee of International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL) - Georgian Committee works on issues related to conventions banning landmines and cluster munitions; monitors their and other UXO victims; prepares projects for their support, mine risk education (MRE) and social integration.  
Convention on Cluster Munitions is signed by more than 100 countries, 30 of them have reached its ratification.
Convention enters into force on August 1, 2010. In Georgia month of August has another meaning after Russian intervention, with cluster munitions used during that war.
On April 23 (100-day countdown to entry into force of the Convention on Cluster Munitions) global movements start all over the world to celebrate this date.
On this date, our organization has a meeting in Ombudsman’s office with other governmental, nongovernmental, international and local organizations and journalist working on this very issue.    
The meeting will include reports on our activities, presentation of victims’ database and need assessment analysis. We also plan to share our future plans and projects.
