PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?

Tamera supports peace projects all over the world, cooperates with the peace village San José de Apartadó and the “University of Resistance” in Colombia; with initiatives in Israel and Palestine (amongst others Neve Shalom/Wahat al Salaam in Israel, The Holy Land Trust in Palestine); with Claudio Miranda de Moura and his idea of a "favela de paz" in the slums of São Paulo, Brazil. Tamera maintains contacts with the Global Ecovillage Network, the Earthville Network near Dharamsala in India, PRV Middle East, with the Beyond Boundaries, the Ganas Community and Arawaka in the US, with representatives of indigenous peoples, with interested individuals all over the world, with inventors, solar technologists, peace journalists and futurists.

ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

Each year there was held a Summer University, where 200-500 international people gathered for study and learning of skills to build a culture of peace.
In 2005 and 2007 a significant group made pilgrimages for peace in the Middle East, focusing on the inner vision for peace in all areas of life.
2008 and 2010 these pilgrimages were done in Colombia, supporting the creating of the Global Campus and the Peace Community San José de Apartado.
2009 it was organised in Portugal.
Many courses on our site in Portugal.
2006-2009 a three year experiment with 160 participants to crystalize new social, technological and ecological knowledge of a peace culture.
2010 another intensive education program for peace from may until august with around 100 international students

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

The work of Tamera to develop a fully sustainable model for a peace culture has progressed enourmously on the level of landscape re-naturalisation and infrastructure, the development of the university, leadership training and visionwork and development in the knowledge of peace between the genders.  Core knowledge necessary for the development of a peace culture has been further developed, particularly in the areas of innovative solar technology, cooperation with nature through "Holzer permaculture" and the peace between people in social organisms.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

The main obstacle in implementing a culture of peace and nonviolence lies in the patterns of thinking and the structures of society which support a violent culture.  Our current societal structures and models have so far supported global war and violence between nations, between families and between lovers.  Part of the world is materially priviliged while the other part suffers from direct violence.
It still is a challenge to attract enough funding for such a futuristic model beyond the maximum profit system.
All those who share the vision of a peaceful earth must come together to implement this vision regardless of what part of the world, religion, race or gender they come from.  Overcoming these patterns and creating trust between people as well as developing a realistic and comprehensive vision for peace have been the main obstacles in implementing a culture of peace and nonviolence.  The base of a model for a peaceful culture lies in trust and solidarity between people and functioning community directed at a common and concrete vision to develop a culture of peace.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

Developing a global network with those who share a comprehensive vision of peace connected with values of nonviolence in action.  Furthering the research of social knowledge, peace between the genders, community building, cooperation with humans and nature.  Creating worldwide educational centers, called Global Campus, where individuals can study various skills and knowlegde necessary for the development of different professions within a peace culture and the skills needed to build concrete sustainable peace models in all fields of life including permaculture and food production, education, arts, technology, and social models where deep trust between people can arise sustainably.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

Continuing to network and align people and organisations in a common vision for a peace culture on earth. If worldwide at strategic points a few complex real life models are being built, a morphogenetic field (R. Sheldrake) is created, which makes the thinking and behaviour patterns of a culture of peace easily available for everyone, thereby catalysing a fast change in human societies around the world.
