PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

Over 2000 young peacemakers were trained in Russia by the Museum of Peacekeeping Operations during last 10 years. As a whole it makes over 3000 children and 300 adults (teachers and school principals) trained as peacemakers since 1998 when the project "Model of UN Peacekeeping" (later "Peace Education Net" Programme) was launched by the Museum.

Increase of interest among children and adults in study of modern methods of mediation  based of  the experience of the UN.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

We do not observe any financial support of the UN secretariat to such successful peace education projects as "Life Link" (Sweden, Mr. Hans Levander), "Peaceful Schools International" (Canada, Mrs. Hetty van Gurp), "Model of UN Peacekeeping" (later - Peace Education Net" Programme), Russia, Doctor Valery Gergel, "Children as Peacemakers'" (the US, Mrs. Patricia Montandon)

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

To continue to organize cooperation of UN peacekeepers and young peacemakers (children) through the e-mail bulletin "Voice of Peacemakers" (http://www.un-museum.ru/vestnik/)

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

It could be strengthened at the world level if former UN peacekeepers (there are now over 1 000 000 UN veterans in all UN member-countries) will unite into World UN Accosiation of Peacekeepers
