ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

2009:

Berlin: A group participated in the “Human Arrows” project, pointing to the conflict in Lithuana that bans discussion on homosexuality.

Bonn: A public discussion on “Reconciliation and responsibility” organized by the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, Church Development Service and Working Group on Development and Peace. Elsewhere, an event with Peace pantomime and puppet theater for children, the 6th run for Peace with 3000 students, a screening of “Pray the Devil Back to ####” (more), workshop to present int. Peace services & Peace work in Germany for youth, & an ecumenical Prayer for Peace.

Düsseldorf: Hundreds attended the “United We Change” concert at the UNICEF stage in front of the Parliament of State North Rhine Westphalia, to coincide with World Youth Day. Musicians from Togo, Jemen, Israel, Germany and Italy attended (see video). The theme song “The Beauty of our World” was sung in all musical styles and languages in member schools

Geottingen: People of different faiths and not any particular faith, gathered to experience the beauty and uniqueness of each religion,  Hamburg: Guided Peace meditation with Peace mantras and self-inquiry aspects, more. Schweinfurt: Members of the Christian and Muslim community prayed together for the first time.

Herzogenaurach: The CEO of German sporting goods company Adidas, Herbert Heiner (2nd right), and CEO of German company Puma, Jochen Zeitz, meet together for a soccer match organized by Peace One Day between Adidas and Puma employees.

München: Representatives of different religious communities gave short talks and prayers or mediational texts for an inter-religious Peace prayer and meditation. Rheinland Pfalz: A small group had a Peace gathering, meditation and creation of a Mandala for Peace. Stuttgart: Event with theater, dance, speeches and African and Japanese food to support an Ivory Coast orphanage.

2007:

Association for Arts, Health, and Environment An art exhibition was opened in Heidelberg with one world art, peace art, and art for sustainability on display from forty-two artists representing thirteen nations. One artist made human sculptures from exploded bombs. The artist group Boxes for Peace also participated.

Peace In Action organised a participative art project in a public place in Bonn. There were three phases: (1) Visualisation, (2) Action, (3) Interactive Exhibition.
Platform for Peaceful Conflict Management marked the International Day of Peace in Bonn with a public event in the morning, a workshop session in the afternoon, and a dinner in a Women‟s Network for Peace member‟s home in the evening. Peacemakers from the Philippines, Kenya, and Bosnia spoke about the silent work for peace and reconciliation that goes on during and after war.

2005:

StadtRaum Köln organized an opportunity for people to discuss their own contributions to Peace. During the talks, they looked at what is already being done for Peace and where more efforts are needed. Starting point for the discussions was the praxis of care and the common
wish that all beings may experience happiness.

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

On a global level, reported events for the International Day of Peace continue to grow year after year (see the website listed above):

In the 2005 Report, 155 Peace Day events in 47 countries are presented.

The 2007 records show that:
* We had 623 commitments across the world
* 70 countries
* 225 cities (outside of the USA)
* 42 US states
* An estimate of nearly 500,000 participants
* An average of 500 people per event

2009 annual report listed 700+ events
