TOP PRIORITY: The organization's most important culture of peace activity

EDUCATION FOR PEACE

PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?

Woodstock Council for World Peace

ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

We present workshops, training sessions and programs for youth/parents/teachers/managers and more designed to cultivate inner peace in order to achieve world peace.

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

We participated in the 2009 Woodstock International Walk for Peace presented by the World Peace Prayer Society.  Currently, we presented our workshops on demand at discounted rates and with reduced fees and scholarships in order to provide services to the broadest number of people possible.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

The biggest obstacle is that, as a small organization, we wish to do good work but have little or no financial resources available to get the program out into the community.  There is also significant resistance from school systems to implement a program of character education that is holistic in it's approach and realistic in the sense of actually changing behavior.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

In the short term we seek to present workshops/groups/trainings to the community at little or no cost designed to Create a Culture of Character in Schools, Homes, the Workplace and more.

In the medium term we plan to set up programs in the local schools to work with the most troubled children in order to reconnect them with who they really are - spiritual beings having a human experience.

In the long term, we seek to become a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing programs to a broad audience through additional staff and resources obtained through funding from grants, sponsorships and other types of support.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??
