PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

Several peace talks have occurred locally and abroad; the Comprehensive Peace Agreement and the Darfur Peace Agreement have been signed; however, full implementation remains temporarily unattainable.

The issues affecting Darfurians are very complicated.  Since the elections, reports indicate that the genocide has escalated.  Nonetheless, those who are like-minded with DRP realize that efforts cannot be stilled.  DRP continues (although sometimes hindered), to foster the advancement of the region through education, advocacy, direct services and research (in collaboration with other organizations that are internationally recognized).

DRP's Vision:  A secure Darfur with a revitalized economy, an abundance of basic human services and a rising level of education.

Further, democratization, respect for human rights in Darfur and in all of Sudan!

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

Getting others to understand that despite the ongoing genocide,
DRP promotes conflict resolution through peaceful means and reconciliation.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??
