HUMAN RIGHTS

PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?

Cooperation with other human rights institutions such as Center for defenders of Human Rights. Creation of a website on the field of human rights in promotion of Human Rights and supporting the culture of peace.

ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

Isfahan Association for Protection of Human Rights by organizing monthly meetings and the lectures by Human Rights experts is effective in the field of Human Rights instruction. In more,the Associattion has an effective role to presenting the UDHR to the Young generation by  free distribution of it among the youths .

In addition the Association has free legal consultation by phone particularly in the field of women's Rights and the rights of the Child. The mean call is about 5 consultations per day.

And it is presumed that NGO  react to the gross violation of Human Rights and this Association support the people who need legal helps by free consultation or hiring some available lawyers and has aided several cases (e.g. journalist, students and etc.)


PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

There are some steps that take by government under the request of civil society actors and also under the pressure of public opinion and international community. For example abolition of discrimination about the rate of compensation (Diyya) for religious minority. however these efforts are very small, and there is a long way for reaching to a desirable situation.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

Unfortunately considering the negative and pessimist view of the sovereignties and the governments to the Human Rights, this NGO has some direct and indirect pressures for social activities.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

Short term: Instruction of human rights to the youth and those who are interested

Medium term: More activation of website of the Association; more interaction and cooperation with internal and international human rights organizations

Long term: Attaining consultative status of The UN; Interaction with judicial institutions besides the other NGOs, and internationals organs for promotion of jurisprudence of Iran.
