PARTNERSHIPS AND NETWORKS: What partnerships and networks does your organization participate in, thus strengthening the global movement for a culture of peace?

NIP carried out various programme in partnership with government, national and international organizations, local level community user groups.

ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

NIP was instrumental in rights of the internally displaced people in the past. As a part of Campaign for rights of Internally Displaced People NIP facilitated dialogues among multi-disciplinary groups and published the following literatures:

- Workshops and interaction programme
- NIP published an Internal Displacement Advocacy Toolkit;
Research on IDPs in collaboration with CRG;
- Guide to Minority Rights: Directory, Personnel and Publications;
- Handbook for peace, human rights activists and journalist in collaboration with South Asia Forum for Human Rights

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

The global culture of peace campaign has some impacts in our work also. We focused our work basically on human rights issues and did not realize the importance of the decade. However, we realize that the work of human rights also is an essential component of culture of peace programme.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

The internal armed conflict has impacted the campaign on the cultural of peace programme in Nepal. There were numerous programme mostly focused on the urban areas to promote the culture of peace.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

NIP has following plans for future:

- To facilitate and organize courses on peace and conflict transformation;
- To organize seminars, workshops and trainings, based on research on peace and conflict studies in and outside Nepal;
- To highlight emerging problems and human rights violations identified at national, regional and international levels, so that appropriate actors are held accountable for their actions;
- To continue advocacy and lobbying on peace issues at all levels and share Nepal's perspective on peace and conflict at different platforms;
To establish networks with other organizations working on similar issues at national, regional and international level;
To establish a center for collection and dissemination of information on pertinent issues arising as a result of the conflicts and social disorder.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

NIP is looking for partner in global level to promote culture of peace in national and international level.
