ACTIONS: What activities have been undertaken by your organization to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence during the ten years of the Decade? If you already made a report in 2005, your information from 2005 will be included in the 2010 report.

Each one of these organization are contributing to a culture of peace each in their unique ways. Many of them collaborate with each other on projects and our bi-monthly meetings afford us to stay connected and support each others efforts.

Thank you for providing a venue for reporting.

PROGRESS: Has your organization seen progress toward a culture of peace and nonviolence in your domain of action and in your constituency during the second half of the Decade?

Yes, the murder rate and other violent crime has dropped significantly.

More and more educators are requesting peace education training. We moved from having 3 groups a year to having  8 groups per year.

There are so many events relating to a culture peace that people can choose among several every day of the week.

We have the Annual Nobel Peace Prize Festival every year and more and more schools are participating.

Peace Poles are springing up throughout the city including one at the police station.

OBSTACLES: Has your organization faced any obstacles to implementing the culture of peace and nonviolence? If so, what were they?

To prevent overlap of events we implemented the on-line calendar so various planning committees have a central location to check dates.

We're working on how to make the Culture of Peace visible to media outlets.

PLANS: What new engagements are planned by your organization in the short, medium and long term to promote a culture of peace and nonviolence?

New plans involve different members to buddy up and present the Minnesota Alliance of Peacemakers table to various community events and talk to people about peacemaking. We want to learn what is on people's minds as well as hear their peacemaking stories.

GLOBAL MOVEMENT: How do you think the culture of peace and nonviolence could be strengthened and supported at the world level??

Continue on with UN Reform and the International Court. Continue to share peace education curriculum which can be infused into existing curricula and all subjects.
