2005

3rd Global Summit on Peace through Tourism held October 2005
Pattaya, Thailand
Theme: One Earth One Family: Travel and Tourism - Serving a Higher Purpose

Organized in support of the UN Decade of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World - and the UN Millennium Development Goals.

Outcomes included the signing of an MOU between the Pacific Asia Travel Association and Africa Travel Association pledging cooperation and mutual exchange.

Pattaya declared a “City of Peace” with dedication of an IIPT International Peace Park. IIPT Achievement Awards for promoting a “Culture of Peace through Tourism” presented to Mr. Chung Ju Yung, Fonder, Hyundai Business Group for pioneering efforts in harnessing tourism to open doors in North Korea; “Peace Trees Vietnam” for working alongside the Vietnamese people to transform the destructive consequences of war into a safe and healthy environment by removing land mines and replacing them with trees; and “Just a Drop” for providing safe water to children and their families in least developed countries – and to survivors of Asian Tsunami.

2006

Launch of “World Peace Tours” – providing tours that exemplify the ideas and ideals of IIPT and the IIPT Credo of the Peaceful Traveler. First tours to Oman and Muscat Festival and the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan.

IIPT Pakistan Chapter provided relief to victims of Pakistan earthquake in Kashmir making three trips to  distribute food, warm clothes, tents and bedding.  

IIPT Australia Chapter organized the 3rd IIPT Australia Conference on Peace through Tourism with more than 100 participants. Conference focused on the role of tourism as an agent of peace.

University of Sydney’s Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies, again offered Peace Through Tourism” - an accredited post-graduate course.

IIPT Youth Chapter, in collaboration with Miracle Corners of the World (MCW) and Lions Club of Dar-es-Salaam City, organized the “Ray of Hope” service project at the Kibada Primary School, Dar-es-Salaam, Tanzania, raising funds to provide a classroom and desks.

IIPT Partner in Africa Diaspora Heritage Trail Conference hosted by Bermuda.

IIPT Partner in Third Annual World Tourism Forum for Peace and Sustainable Development  held in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

2007

4th IIPT African Conference in Kampala, Uganda in support of the U.N. Millennium Development Goals and U.N. Decade of Peace and Non-Violence for the Children of the World.
Outcomes included:
- Uganda first country in the world to adopt Tourism Legislation in support of the UN Millennium Development Goals.
- Week of conference declared “National Peace through Tourism Week”
- Launch of Uganda Martyr’s Trail as legacy of the Conference;
- Dedication of IIPT International Peace Park at Martyr’s Trail;
- Announcement of Four Sister Cities;
- Africa Diaspora Heritage Trail (ADHT) to be launched in Uganda;
- First IIPT Lifetime Acheivement Award presented;
- Launch of Graduate Level Peace through Tourism Program at WICE (World Leisure Center of Excellence) Wageningen University in partnership with IIPT;
- IIPT Scholarship Award to Inter-disciplinary team of students writing the best paper on “Tourism Contribution to the UN Millennium Development Goals.”
- First Africa Media Exchange with participating journalists, editors and publishers from Africa, Europe and North America committed to enhancing the international image of Africa.
- Training Workshops regarding Hotel Revenue Management, Destination Marketing, Community Tourism, and Guiding
- Ministers Roundtables on Healing Wounds of Conflict through Tourism Culture and Sport; Enhancing the Contribution of Tourism to Poverty Reduction and the UN Millennium Development Goals; and the Africa Diaspora Heritage Trail.

IIPT Commemorated 15th Anniversary of “Peace Parks Across Canada”
“Peace Parks Across Canada” commemorated Canada’s 125th anniversary as a nation in 1992. Some 400 cities and towns across Canada, from St. John’s, Newfoundland on the shores of the Atlantic, across 5 time zones to Victoria, British Columbia on the shores of the Pacific, dedicated a Park to Peace – with most parks dedicated at Noon local time, October 8th, as the National Peacekeeping Monument was being unveiled in Ottawa.
Each park was dedicated with a ‘Bosco Sacro’ (Peace Grove) of 12 trees as a symbolic link with one another, and with nature - and as a symbol of hope for the future.
Cities and towns were invited to re-dedicate their parks as part of the 15th Anniversary.
